TACKLE FOOTBALL
Overview
The Littlestown Elementary tackle football program is offered to players Grades 1-6. The mission is to teach players the fundamentals of football, in addition to providing instruction and support in the basics of the game. The Coaching Staff is committed to instilling to each child the ideals of responsibility, character, good sportsmanship, and contribute to the child's physical, social, emotional, and overall development. They learn how to be part of a team and learn life lessons on and off the field that can last a lifetime providing years of fun and fitness. LEFA is a feeder program for the Littlestown Football program. LEFA abides by a strict Code of Conduct policy. You can find LEFA's Tackle Football Code of Conduct under Parent Documents.
Divisions
Players are placed on the team based on their grade level. See below for the age groupings:
Thunderbolts
Rink: 1st-3rd Grade
JV 1st-2nd Grade
Varsity 3rd Grade
Pony: 4th-5th Grade
JV 4th Grade
Varsity 5th Grade
Midget: 6th Grade
Please note: All players must have physicals completed by a doctor by equipment handout.
Coaching Opportunities
We are always looking for parents/adult volunteers to help by coaching a football team. We hope you will consider helping our LEFA Football Program by coaching or volunteering. If interested, please sign up during player registration and visit the Coaches Corner tab. Please note, football knowledge and background is a MUST.
When and Where are Games?
There will be 8-9 regularly scheduled games during the fall season. All games are played on Saturday or Sunday. Games are played at Thunderbolt Stadium. Games usually last about 1 hour. LEFA tackle football is governed by York County Youth Football Association league (YCYFA). Games are played against other teams in the surrounding York/Adams Counties.
When and Where are Practices?
Summer conditioning will begin in July. Season practices will start in early August. All practices are held at the Littlestown High School practice fields (lower fields below high school). Practices are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6-8PM. After school starts, practice will be Tuesday through Thursday.
Game Cancellations
Games are cancelled for lightning and/or flooded fields. Dress appropriately. Games are cancelled by LEFA President. Should a game be cancelled you will receive a league email. Games that have played 2 full quarters will not be rescheduled. The final score stands.
Registration Fees
Registration for any Tackle Football is $110 per player. Your registration fee includes a football helmet, football pads, practice and game pants, socks, practice and game jersey and a mouth guard. Parents will need to provide cleats with rubber spikes. All participants are expected to fundraise. If you choose not to fundraise there is a mandatory buy-out of $40 per athlete.
How do I Register?
Registration is open every year from April through May for the following fall season. (Dates may be subject to change) Check our Facebook for most updates. (@LEFALittlestownElementaryFootballAssociation). You will need to register for a household account. This will enable you to create a household account and you will then be able to receive emails from LEFA about upcoming registration and other important events. Payment is due at the time of registration (if mailing a check - it is due within one week) or your child will be placed on a waiting list until we receive payment.
